About the Charity

SAMPARC was started in 1990 with a very humble purpose to give a new identity to the socially marginalized children, orphans and children of sex workers by meticulously working towards their upliftment through physical, mental and emotional development. SAMPARC has always believed that the main tools for making an orphan or a needy child self sufficient for his future development & rehabilitation can be achieved only through education & vocational training. In rural areas, the dropout rate from school after 4th standard is over 60%. Being left out with no scope for further education most children have no other option but to either take up petty jobs to help their parents due to financial crisis. In 1994, to help such unfortunate children & youth, SAMPARC initiated a vocational training centre at Malavli to develop and enhance the skills of these needy children. This centre helps encourage social entrepreneurship among youth from Lonavla, Maval, Mulshi & Khed taluka which comprise of about 150 villages and enables them to fight against poverty, unemployment & social insecurity. About 1840 children have been trained from this centre and over 1400 of them have already been employed since its establishment. Different courses like welding & fabrication, electrician, tailoring and fashion designing, basic computers and MS-CIT along with short term courses like plumbing, carpentry, etc. are conducted in this centre which is recognized by the Vocational Training Directorate, Government of Maharashtra.
