Two Drops of Oil
A young man once
visited the kingdom of happiness, to learn the secret of happiness from the
Master. The kingdom of happiness happens to be the most beautiful place ever,
where every single person is happy 24x7x365.
The Master suggested that the young man take a stroll around every corner of his kingdom to experience how beautiful the world is and come back in two hours after which he will share the secret of happiness with him.
“However, there's a condition.” the Master added, handling the young man a spoon, filled with oil. “While you walk, carry this spoon. If you find anybody with an empty spoon, share 2 drops of oil with him. However, your spoon should never be empty. Caution, don’t spill the oil, take care of it.”
The young man began to walk around the kingdom and found everyone in the kingdom walking with a spoon filled with oil. And then he came across a couple of differently-abled children whose oil had spilt. He shared 2 drops of oil with them and the children had a smile on their faces. The young man felt inner happiness in sharing the drops of oil with these children. He continued walking around the entire kingdom, always keeping his eyes fixed on the spoon. At the end of two hours, he returned to the Master.
“So,” asked the Master, “Did you see the beautiful rainbow? Did you see the garden that the Master of Gardeners took ten years to create? Did you notice the beautiful fish dancing in the river?”
Embarrassed, the young man confessed that he had seen nothing. He couldn’t notice the beauty of the kingdom as his only concern was the drops of oil. He mentioned that he shared 2 drops of oil with a couple of children with empty spoons and felt really happy.
“I am glad you shared and felt happy. But now, go back and see the wonders of my world,” said the Master.
Now more at ease, the young man took the spoon and strolled again through the Kingdom, this time paying attention to all the beautiful flora and fauna. The young man had never seen anything so beautiful in his life. He saw the gardens, the mountains all around the palace, the rainbow, the delicacy of the flowers.
Returning to the Master, he reported in awe and excitement every detail that he had seen.
“But where is the oil that I entrusted to you?” asked the Master.
Looking down at the spoon, the young man realized that he had spilled the oil.
“Well, that is the only advice I have to give you,” said the Master.
“The Secret of Happiness lies in enjoying all the wonders of the world and never forgetting the two drops of oil in the spoon.”

This wonderful world that you and I are living in today is the kingdom of happiness that our Master created for our happiness. The oil represents OUR LIFE that our Master has gifted us. He expects us to take care of our life and the life of others around us while enjoying the wonders of the world. This is the secret of happiness.
Let’s not spill the oil, let’s not waste our lives. If we focus too much attention on gathering oil, we will miss enjoying the beauty in the world. If we forget to share the oil with others, we shall leave their spoons empty and disobey the Master.
The Master wants us to live in happiness 24x7x365, enjoying the wonders of the world while sharing our lives with others.

YVO, Young Volunteers Organisation, is a platform where every donor shares their 2 drops of oil, i.e. Rs.506 every month, to fill the empty spoons of lives around us. When more than 1000 people give Rs.506 every month, the collective fund is large enough to constructively fund some life changing initiatives that will help those in need and stand on their own feet. YVO believes in empowering people to become financially independent, so that they never need these 2 drops of oil from anyone else ever again and their lamps burn forever. YVO Initiatives include vocational training of unemployed tribal youth and women from poor backgrounds, making digital classrooms in remote villages and educating children in the slums and many more.
Each month we take up a new cause. In the last 7 years, drop by drop, YVO has in totality ensured that more than Rs.4 cr has been given in the right hands in the right way. More than 11 Lakh empty spoons were filled with 2 drops of oil while we are enjoying the wonders of this world.
We dream of an India,
